SWTrainsWhat’s a Luau?

A luau is a traditional Hawaiian party or feast.  It often features traditional food (luau takes its name from a chicken and coconut milk dish), hula dancing, and music.

Here at Knot, we were feeling the January blues, and to cheer up the most depressing month of the year, we thought a luau might be just the ticket.  We stocked up on lamps, leis, tropical shirts, and music, brainstormed a special guest pretzel, and sourced some mighty fine coastal coffee for our new single origin filter.

Why a Luau?

Not only is the luau fun and tasty, it’s also doing good.

Inspired by our success fundraising for Macmillan’s Coffee Morning in September, we’ve coerced some team members into running 3 MILES for Sport Relief around the Olympic Park on 23 March.  50p from every Pina Colada pretzel sold between now and the end of March will be donated to Sport Relief.

Feel inspired?  Please feel free to donate in the jar by the till, or visit our page my.sportrelief.com/sponsor/knot-pretzels to donate online, and check out our training and fundraising updates.

Join the fun!

We thought, why should we have all the fun?  So here you go, your own chance to be part of a tropical paradise.  Post your best luau style photos (hashtag #KnotLuau so we can find them on twitter, Facebook, Instagram, vine, or Flickr) and get a free cup of Costa Rican filter coffee on us.

Need some inspiration?  We have a pretty snazzy cutout for your use in our Clapham Junction shop.

Go on, have some fun.
